"The jury of the first Amnesty International Film Award, at Indie Lisboa Film Festival, unanimously fell for a film that, more than a documentary, can be seen as a document. In this film, filled with contradictions, the filmmaker succeeds to use the obstructions and limitations from the local authorities in favour of his work. The daily life of a three generations family in one of the most closed regimes in the world is shown from an inside point of view. The audience becomes a witness of what appears to be a timeless life full of control and indoctrination. Thanks to filmmaker Pieter Fleury we've had a glance through the closed curtains of North Korea now. How long will it last until the North Koreans will get the opportunity to look back at us? The Amnesty International Film Award goes to North Korea – A Day in the Life, by Pieter Fleury."
